Created out of nothing Piercing the heavens Hovering over waters Behold, there was light In the silence, you become Revelation to everyone There, creation manifests You breathe life where none exists The words of time Eternal in their space Spoken into existence Like they always had a place

Adventurers 05:01
The sun was bright, the sky was blue And every promise made came true God and man, in harmony Everything as it was meant to be The clouds loomed over A curse upon our land The taste of knowledge Lies bitter in our hand All we have ever needed has followed us back to this place The river of memories fills to the edge With regrets we cannot embrace We set out (we set out) Through the thorny glen And what we lost (what we lost) We can't get back again No last goodbyes, we've packed our bags We're left to wander the wilderness (Eden's gates are forever closed) (What made us safe now stands opposed)
3.
We can build a path to heaven With one voice, we can take to the sky Bake your bricks and build, my children There’s no end to our collective mind (Rise up and take what’s ours) (Rise up, children of earth) There’s no need for God to rule us The mother tongue will lead this time Cradle of civilization Human achievement sets the stage Elect a king from among us To lead into the new age
4.
I've thrown down the gauntlet, I know what's on the other side Let those who oppose pay the penalty with their lives My anger burns hotter than the sun beating on your brow I'm king of the locusts and the time has come to bow You thought the rule under my father was unbearable But I'll make it worse Beg for your place inside these pages God writes the chapter, but I write the verse I'll raise up a monument made in the image of me Look on and despair, take a knee, show your loyalty I'm king of the world and the world is my enemy
5.
What kind of hand would save us for this misery? Your wrath displayed in burning sand beneath our feet We beg for rest now, frail and weak We made our bed and yet we find, we cannot sleep Yet in our hunger, in our rage, across the sands we hear you say Come back to me Don't be afraid Run back to me I loved you in The desert heat When you went astray Won't you please- It was my hand that carried you across the sea My wrath in fire was holding back the enemy The bitter water that I made sweet I poured my love that you might remember me I brought you up, and I'm coming down It's not too late, come back to me

Out of Exile 09:09
Mark your doors with the blood (Passing through seas) As the shadow passes by (Peril on all sides) We are led into the night (Cry for mercy) Out of exile (We don’t have to die) We lift our eyes up to the hills With a vision we don’t fully understand Of a city built by God’s own hand A journey to a promised land (out of exile) Lucid cloud formation Our compass south and east Entropy temptation Burden of the high priest Holy bread to nourish Rains on our makeshift tents Constant signs and wonders Still we grow complacent We gather, in orbit Under a dying sun Our worship, disordered These idle hands have won Raise up the sacred gods Forged in a golden form Alchemy of stiff necks Pride and self-reliance Your promises fade Like an hourglass of sand We try to hold on But it slips through our hands No end in sight Panic sets in All souls are tested In the wilderness No end in sight These 40 years Tell me now Where do we go from here? Desert behind Death on all sides Has God left us here to die?

Harbinger 03:15
Find me in a cistern, drowning in the mire My yoke is heavy, my burden is fire Find me in the darkness, surrounded by the lions Find me in the mountains, fleeing for my life This should not surprise you, but it should cause concern Your fathers did the same thing, repent or you will learn Find me in the desert, a harlot for a wife Feeding on the locusts, the wilderness unkind Find me in the lightning, the altar and the pyre Fury on the winepress, my people in denial If you end me, these stones cry out to God, do your worst If you kill me, these bones cry out from the ground Cause I'm not the last and I'm not the first
8.
We’ve planted vineyards, reaped the harvest from our lands We’ve been impoverished, reaching out our empty hands All of our striving, all our toil knows no end Hand to the plow before the storm comes round again There’s nothing new under the sun Our think tanks run empty on recycled ideas All of our efforts are a chasing of the wind Another cloud comes, with the same sun shining through We spin our wheels again but this is nothing new We’ve known depression, we have known pain We have been humble and we have been vain Stuck in this cycle, it’s all the same Until we learn to fear and honor your way Collective wisdom of the world can’t solve the curse Grasping at straws inside a frightening universe The greatest minds can’t crack the problems that we face Another war brews like a fixture in this place A time for birth, a time for life, a time for death A time to scatter, gather, tear it down, a time to mend A time to plant, a time to grow, a time to reap A time to love, a time to hate, a time for war & peace All things that you have made are beautiful In their appointed time You’ve set eternity in every heart As our days unwind Our days are a shadow, they’re fading away We tried on our own strength, but it’s a new day A time to walk humbly, a time to embrace The great gift of mercy, the sweet sound of grace
9.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray United by our sin and shame We scorned the grace you freely gave And that has been our lot All we had, what we lost Must we still count the cost? A thousand years have passed us by Oh God eternal, hear our cry The covenant on which we rely We’ve broken evermore All we had, what we lost Must we still count the cost? Hear our prayers, Living God We don’t deserve your mercy but on our knees we fall No turning back now that we know By your standard who can be clean Are we your children or wayward orphans Is there anyone who is worthy (Rise up, Children of God Rise up, Children of Heaven) Do you hear a voice calling out from the Heavens? Do you hear a voice as it divides the sky? Does creation cry for a chance of redemption? Is there more at work than meets the eye? Do you hear a prophecy passed through the ages? Of a ruler coming who will stand alone He’s the one foretold of to all your fathers He will claim his seat upon Heaven’s throne I will build the path to Heaven I will send my Son to reconcile In His name every chain will be broken He will call his own out of exile (out of exile)

about

Following up their 2020 debut tribute album to Johnny Barbi (fellow bandmate & brother, who tragically passed away in 2018). Notion Blue's sophomore album, Out of Exile, is a 9-track progressive rock concept album that explores key themes/events from the Biblical Old Testament.

Musically, NB drew inspiration from a variety of influences for this album, from Peter Gabriel to Tool. Lyrically, the themes explored draw plenty of modern parallels such as war, injustice, oppression, and seasons of great uncertainty, all culminating in a hopeful & redemptive finale. Out of Exile was written to be one complete & epic listening experience sure to satisfy a variety of prog fans.

about

Notion Blue Milford, Connecticut

In high school, brothers Gabe and Luke Chase joined musically with brothers Max and Johnny Barbi for gigs, but never officially became a band. In 2018, after the tragic death of Johnny Barbi—beloved brother, friend, and bassist-Notion Blue was officially formed. (“Notion” being a nod to a previous band of Max and Johnny’s, and "blue" signifying both peace and a brightness of new possibility. ... more
